Designing An Effective Business Message - 1476 Words

Steve Burnett once said, Regardless of the changes in technology, the market for well-crafted messages will always have an audience. This is true, especially in the business world. Even though technology has changed dramatically over the last few decades, it is still imperative to construct an effective business message, if one wants to be successful. Writing has always been difficult in my life. Even though I have gained valuable education from both work and school, I still struggle with it. This course has aided me even more to become a more effective writer to assist in making better business communications. This course gave insights on two of what I see as my biggest problem areas. Of course, I already mentioned writing; the other is conducting a job interview. I will discuss these two areas and others from this class that have given more confidence to my communication skills. One of key concepts throughout the reading that Bovee and Thill continually addressed was the, â€Å"Audience centered approach or ‘You’ attitude† (p. 9). This is vital in communications to understanding the audience. If one can relate to others and concentrate on their needs, then it will be easier to have the message heard. Once the â€Å"You† attitude is addressed, one can move onto other areas of a business communication to make it effective.
